So Gearbox has been in a bit of a scuffle with gamers with their G2A partnership to produce a Bullet-Storm collectors edition. Though, I was not informed of this till recently… (stupid Civ5 and Mass Effect Andromeda) I do know of the reputation of one G2A. They profit off of developers through the sale of fraudulent keys, they also CHARGE Developers for Fraud Protection. It’s literally a racket, they smash your store and say, if you pay for protection, this kind of thing won’t happen.
Obviously, some explanation is needed as to why G2A is seen as a scam site When a game is sold on PC from a site like Steam, the publisher and or developer has control over the price and gets most of the profit. This is not true for G2A, as someone who bought a key to activate a game and has not used it, can sell it to G2A. It’s more like Amazon of digital video games, users bring and sell their own goods. The problem is you can’t guarantee that these digital keys were purchased legitimately. The problem is when someone buys a bunch of keys on a stolen credit card, then resells those keys to G2A. The card gets cancelled, but the money is taken out of the developers own pocket to refund the purchase. Unfortunately, the keys are now resold to G2A and in many cases, the developer can’t get those back, so the scammer get’s his tidy profit. Keep in mind, this is just one way that this happens, I’m sure that there are other examples, but this seems to be the most common approach.
It's Civilization V! Playlist for this series: Civilization merch: http://bit.ly. Civilization V: Complete Edition v1.0.3.144 All No-DVD Prophet Win.Trojan.Hacktool-1800 I know sometimes cracks give false positive detections. Civ 5 is a perfect blend of classic and fresh gameplay elements. It feels immediately familiar to the series' veterans, but introduces new mechanics to stay ahead of its competitors. Sid Meier's Civilization V features. Several ways to win - you can achieve victory through different means suiting your style. Whether through Conquest, Diplomacy. Use code POLYGON10 for an extra 10% off a Steam key for Civilization 6: Gold Edition, the Gathering Storm DLC, and Civilization 5: Complete.
This has lead to the developer canceling keys outright, as with the case of Sniper Elite. In that case, over 7000 keys were stolen and resold to key re-seller sites. G2A happens to be just one of the largest of these sites, the way they get over the criticism, is by buying Youtubers, and Twitch streamers. They throw a ton of money at these people, in some cases, even sponsor Esports tournaments. This is probably why most of the bad news coming from G2A isn’t known. Another reason is, that you don’t hear about this enough because indie dev’s or AAA dev’s don’t usually make too much of a fuss about this.
The worst part is the whole racket, they literally want you to pay them FRAUD PROTECTION and sell to them exclusively to clear up any ‘issues’ with G2A. I’m sorry, your selling stolen goods, and you want the developer to pay you along with signing exclusive rights? I thought the mob was bad, but you G2A, you take the cake in scum bag behavior.
Anyway, this is where we get into the the Ultimatum from Gearbox. They released a statement regarding their partnership with G2A. The Ultimatum, which you can read in the link below, basically demands four main things. I’ve got a smaller version of the statement here.
- G2A makes a public commitment to this: Within 30 days, G2A Shield (aka, customer fraud protection) is made free instead of a separate paid subscription service within terms offered by other major marketplaces.
- G2A makes a public commitment to this: Within 90 days, G2A will open up a web service or API to certified developers and publishers to search for and flag for immediate removal, keys that are fraudulent. This access will be free of charge and will not require payment by the content holders.
- G2A makes a public commitment to this: Within 60 days implement throttling for non-certified developers and publishers at the title, userid, and account payable levels for a fraud flagging process.
- G2A makes a public commitment to this: Within 30 days, G2A restructures its payment system so that customers who wish to buy and sell legitimate keys are given a clear, simple fee-structure that is easy to understand and contains no hidden or obfuscated charges.

This is an ultimatum, make no mistake, they will break their contract with G2A if these demands were not met. I personally have a problem with grey market key reseller sites like G2A. I’ve only used GoG, Steam, or Slitherine, there are many more sites that are good storefronts, they sell legitimate copies and support developers. Grey market sites are the parasite of the industry and should not be trusted, they suck the life out of indie and AAA dev’s alike and your better off pirating than buying from sites like G2A. (don’t pirate, but if you had a choice between G2A and pirating, please pirate.) Anyway, that’s my usual two cents, I will enjoy spending it at Steam than G2A any day of the week.
